TOYOTA RECALLS AND QUALITY PLOBREMS

In the last two months, there has been a major problem in quality of automobiles from Toyota which has led to massive recalls .The problems can be traced to  late last year when the company noticed that about four million of its automobiles were in danger of experiencing problems with their pedals used for acceleration. The danger became a reality in early January when the company recalled about two million vehicles among them its best sellers. This was closely followed by a recall of about one million trucks and cars which just highlighted the magnitude of the problem and exacerbated the bad press hanging about the company in its major market overseas.

These quality problem responsible for the first recall relates to the pedal used for acceleration where the floor pad that is incompatible can make the pedal to stick in a broad and wide position The second recall is due to the possibility of the pedal being stuck through a position that is depressed making it to be slow in returning to idle mode. This has made the company to temporarily halt the selling the vehicles that have been affected by the pedal problem .The company has also stopped production in some north American plants in order to direct resources to financing the remedying of the vehicles recalled.

The problem has continued to persist with its popular brand, corolla prius being recalled in early February with about one million in total. This has sparked outrage in the United States its major market for the brand which has made the federal government to open a congressional probe into the recall in the coming week. The congress has also summoned the companys president Jim Lentz who has already shunned the invitation instead leaving the role to the companys executives in the U.S. Global recalls have reached about nine million vehicles and it is a major problem for the company that will take time to amend.
