Is there Science Behind 2012 Prophecies by Laurie Nadel

Part A
In an interview conducted by Laurie Nadel (n.d.), Gregg Braden, author of the best-seller Fractal Time, discusses the scientific basis for the 2012 prophecies.  According to the interview transcript published online, the 2012 prophecies are based on a set of scientific findings that centers on the position of the Earth in relation to the Milky Way. Throughout the interview, Braden introduces several concepts that helps in understanding the events often attached to the year 2012. The interviewee argues that the changes brought about by 2012 are a result of a normal cycle that occurs every 5,125 years.

Braden explains that the year 2012 should be understood as the end of an Earth cycle and not the end of the world, as other people may put it (Nadel, n.d.). The Earth undergoes a particular cycle occurring every 5,125 years, which is similar to normal everyday cycles such as a 24-hour day or 60-minute hour (Nadel, n.d.). The difference lies on the length of time spent for every cycle, which affects the peoples understanding of the earth cycle or, worse, forget the event altogether.

The cycle refreshes during the period mentioned and brings about changes in the environment of the Earth, which can prove to be devastating for the human race (Nadel, n.d.). According to Braden, the cycle of 5,125 years refreshes on December 21, 2012 (Nadel, n.d.). At the said date, the Earth is aligned with the Milky Way without any obstructions (Nadel, n.d.). When this happens, the planet is exposed to the field of energy found in the said galaxy, which is considered to be a formidable source of energy (Nadel, n.d.). The magnetic energy, also referred to as magnetic filiments, has an effect on the Earth depending on the distance and tilt of the planet in relation to the galaxy (Nadel, n.d.).

Braden argues that former civilizations have failed in surviving the devastating changes of the cycle because they did not understood the changes they are experiencing (Nadel, n.d.). In order to learn more about the events that could potentially define the year 2012, Braden mentions that geological and archaeological are helpful tools as windows to the previous cycles (Nadel, n.d.). With this information, he emphasized that people are equipped with the needed information that can help in surviving the disasters that can be encountered during the year (Nadel, n.d.). In relation to this, there is a call for cooperation and heart-based living among the people with the assumption that collective action is among the factors that can help in survival (Nadel, n.d.).

Heart-based living, as mentioned earlier, is used by the author to show that people can make their own contributions, positively or negatively, that impact the magnetic field of the Earth (Nadel, n.d.). The phenomenon was first observed during the 911 bombing when the satellites located in the space showed variations in the magnetic fields of the Earth (Nadel, n.d.). In relation to this, it becomes important for the individuals to harbor positive feelings and live a coherent life to cause the magnetic field to move from disorder to stability (Nadel, n.d.).

In the end, the need for people to work together is highlighted. There are changes that can happen and people can fear about it. Nonetheless, it is important that they gain knowledge about it and respond to in a collective manner.

Part B
There are tools being constructed for the purpose of assessing the magnetic fields. The results are published online and the fields are updated daily and in real time. Aside from this, the Global Coherence Project has the purpose of educating people on strategies that can be taken to produce a coherent lifestyle. There are no changes required in terms of everyday living and that the steps are easy. There is no need to alter any habit, imploration, or thoughts. The only requirement is that individuals inculcate the heart in everyday living.
