Photoshop as a Visual Communications Tool

In my opinion, Adobe Photoshop and other increasingly available raster-based software packages have influenced design trends for the better. Photoshop is particularly a very effective tool for the creation of visual communication aids. Adobe Photoshop is not only applicable in the creation of catchy visuals, but it has also led to the development of idea and objective-based aids in all professional disciplines like medicine and surgery, engineering and advertising.

Take for example in dental engineering, business, surgery and medicine. Adobe Photoshop has in the first place made it very easy to develop perfect visual images that are specifically designed to make it easier to demonstrate concepts and situations. In the advertising sector, Adobe Photoshop has made the creation of thematic visual campaign posters and pictures that captivate an observer, engaging his or her imagination fully by their sheer beauty and perfection. These are the attributes that lead to effective communication theme orientation, clarity, and aesthetic value.

Those that argue against the use of raster-based software in the development of visuals look at the phenomenon from a very shallow perspective that it constitutes lies. But as long as a piece of art has a dimension of perfection that the human society has been continuously pursuing since time immemorial, then according to me that is a step in the right direction. Of course some unscrupulous fellow will misuse the power of these aids to orchestrate deceitful campaigns, but then again no single technological invention has escaped manipulation by unscrupulous fellows who are after sowing where they did not reap. In my opinion therefore, Photoshop has effectively facilitated the creation of strong, idea-driven visuals in academia, professional practice and in business.
